For Immediate release

Ottawa, Ontario – Friday, November 24, 2017 -  Global Affairs Canada’s Operational Coherence Group recently met with CAIDP representatives to discuss working together as members of the international development community to jointly improve the efficiency of Canadian international assistance programming.

A joint steering committee drawn from Global Affairs and representatives of the international development community including organizations like CAIDP will define key areas of work to simplify and streamline the way the department works with its partners in the delivery of international assistance. The Steering Committee would oversee working groups whose mandate would be to provide concrete, practical advice on the tools and processes that guide the way we work together. The ultimate goal is to make it easier for us to work together and support the delivery of international assistance programming.

Board member Alan Wilson will represent CAIDP on this Steering Committee.  “CAIDP is thrilled to be part of this GAC initiative.  It provides an excellent opportunity to tap in to the deep knowledge and expertise available among our members - and from a broad base of GAC partners including the private sector, academia, civil society organization and individual experts.”

The Steering Committee will hold its first meeting later this month and we are seeking your feedback on which areas you would like to see the working groups focus on so that Alan can represent the priorities of the members.

Once the Steering Committee has defined the work to be done we envision that we will be calling on a small number of our members with specific expertise in these priority areas to form working groups along with other members of the international development community, including GAC employees, so keep reading CAIDPHub for further news on this important work.
