CAIDP's History

The Canadian Association of International Development Professionals (CAIDP) is a non-profit corporation that was federally registered in February 1993 under the name Canadian Association of International Development Consultants (CAIDC). At the meeting of the members in November 2012, the name of the association was changed to Canadian Association of International Development Professionals (CAIDP) and a certificate of continuance was obtained from Industry Canada to continue its operation under the new Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act; including new by-laws (see more on CAIDP governance here).   

CAIDP is a completely voluntary organization. It is run for and by international development professionals and it is operated out of Ottawa, Ontario.

CAIDP's Purpose

CAIDP gives a voice to the concerns and interests of Canadian international development professionals.  The Association's objectives are to:
  • Foster excellence in international development consulting
  • Promote the collective interests of international development professionals
  • Provide a forum for members to exchange professional information and engage in professional development.

CAIDP' Professional Code of Conduct

CAIDP developed a Professional Code of Conduct that must be adhered to by all CAIDP members.

Members of CAIDP include Individual Members and Corporate Members.
