Join SID Ottawa-Gatineau to learn about the experiences in the field of development and humanitarian assistance.

On Wednesday February 8th 2012, SID-OG will welcome a panel of experts from the non-profit sector, private sector, and civil service, including:

  • Ted Itani (Pearson Peacekeeping Centre Humanitarian Advisor & Red Cross Canada Volunteer) : In addition to his work with the PPC and Red Cross, Mr. Itani is also a subject matter expert for the US State Department Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI). His previous experience includes work with the Canadian Military, NATO, the UN, the ICRC, and the IFRC.
  • Bernard Woods (Partner, Goss Gilroy Incorporated): Mr. Woods has over 15 years of experience working in the field of consulting. He has worked in 30 countries in Latin America, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe, and is a globally recognized expert in results based management (RBM).
  • Anne Lavender (Senior Advisor, CIDA): More than 25 years of experience in the field of international development including management and direction of teams of sector professionals (RBM specialists, program analysts, engineers, economists, education, gender, governance, private sector development, environment and health specialists), contracted resources (Canadian and local private sector firms, multilateral organisations, NGO’s and NGI’s) and support staff. More recently, Ms. Lavender served as the Development Advisor to Brigadier General Milner, the Commander of Task Force Kandahar for the last year of Canada's presence in Kandahar.

The discussion will include presentations from the panelists providing current insight on the opportunities and challenges
in emergencies, conflict and post-conflict zones. Opportunity for Q&A from the audience will follow.

Riccardo Rossi-Ricci (President, SID-OG) will act as moderator.
