VOLUNTEER PROJECT MANAGEMENT ADVISOR
Salasan Consulting seeks an experienced Project Management Advisor to strengthen the capacity of a women-led Indigenous organization advancing climate resilience in Nepal. This is a three-month volunteer position based in Kathmandu, with travel to rural areas.
Location: Nepal (field-based with rural travel)
Host Organization: National Indigenous Women Federation (NIWF)
Duration: Approximately 3 months, including home-based planning and reporting
Terms: Salasan will provide international travel costs, accommodation, a daily living allowance and international health insurance.
Through the Climate Leadership for Indigenous Women in Nepal (CLAN) Project, Indigenous women in the Middle Hills are leading community-based climate adaptation initiatives focused on water security, nature-based agriculture, land revitalization, and local climate advocacy. As the project enters its final phase, stronger project management systems and institutional linkages are required to ensure these leadership gains endure beyond donor support.
This is a coaching and capacity building role. The Advisor will work directly with NIWF’s Program Coordinator to consolidate management practices, enhance sustainability, and strengthen institutional linkages with local governments, NGOs and community-based organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentor the NIWF Program Coordinator in practical project cycle management: planning, budgeting, risk management, procurement oversight, and monitoring.
- Strengthen systems to support sustainability of women-led climate adaptation initiatives.
- Reinforce gender-responsive approaches and collective women’s leadership.
- Foster structured engagement with rural municipalities and local stakeholders.
- Improve monitoring and reporting systems to strengthen credibility and long-term resource mobilization.

Candidate Profile
- 3–5+ years’ experience in international development, climate resilience, or community-based programming.
- Knowledge of results-based management and monitoring systems.
- Experience advancing gender equality and women’s leadership.
- Experience working respectfully with Indigenous or community-based organizations.
- Strong coaching/adult education skills and intercultural competence.
- Experience in Nepal or South Asia is an asset.
- Applicants must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.
