Due to increasing demand for our evaluation, monitoring and performance management services internationally and domestically, Universalia is seeking three full time, bilingual Intermediate Consultants for its evaluation practices in Montreal and Ottawa.

Within our international evaluation practice, we have served an increasingly broad and diverse range of multi-lateral and bilateral development agencies and non-governmental organizations. In Canada, we serve various federal and Ontario government clients. Our internationally recognized services include evaluation, monitoring, performance monitoring and management, management for results, capacity development, and project management and implementation.

Responsibilities

The evaluation consultant will be involved in reviews and evaluation of international and domestic projects, programs and organizations. The consultant will also assist clients use performance measurement techniques and provide other related support.

Her/his duties will include (individually or within a team):

  • Supporting Universalia business development and writing proposals and bids

  • Developing evaluation and performance monitoring workplans

  • Collecting and analyzing data (qualitative and quantitative analysis)

  • Report writing

  • Delivering presentations and workshops

  • Managing evaluation assignments

  • Managing relationships with clients

Required Skills and Experience

The candidate needs to be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal and team building skills. Specific requirements are as follows:

  • 5-7 years of solid experience in carrying out and/or leading impact, program, project and organizational evaluations and/or in providing performance measurement, managing for results and evaluation capacity development services

  • Strong research skills-we will be giving preference to quantitative skills

  • MA or MBA (economics, development studies, social sciences, management, commerce). Formal training/education in Monitoring and Evaluation or Results based Management is an asset

  • Knowledge and experience in international development in Canada and internationally

  • Previous domestic and/or international consulting and business development experience an asset

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (including workshop and group facilitation experience) – sensitive to multicultural and multilingual settings

  • Clear and concise writing style in English

  • Fluently bilingual (French and English), other languages an asset

  • A global and multicultural perspective as evidenced by experience living and working abroad

  • Ability to initiate activities and work independently

  • Interest in and ability to travel

Locations: Montreal and Ottawa

Start: Immediately

Salary and Benefits: Negotiable, based on experience.
