Position Title:              Manager, Volunteers and Technical Cooperants (TC)

Status:                        Full-time – Permanent

Location:                     Ottawa, Ontario

Travel Requirement:  Some domestic and international travel may be required

CCA is seeking an experienced and energetic Manager, Volunteers and Technical Cooperants (TCs) with practical supervisory experience.  Based in CCA’s Ottawa headquarters, the successful candidate will assist in the delivery of the organization’s program and services. This includes directly managing volunteers, and /or providing guidance, support, resources and tools to staff who supervise volunteers.  It also includes leading and developing national volunteer activities and opportunities to engage alumni and new volunteers to support the mission of the organization.

The Manager, Volunteers and TCs will be responsible for engaging volunteers to gain community support of the volunteer program and the organization including the planning and developing of volunteering opportunities. Additionally, the Manager of Volunteers and TCs is responsible for leading the volunteer program and services, including; setting and managing the program budget, training staff to work effectively and cooperatively with volunteers, ensuring volunteers are given appropriate training to be successful, as well as tracking the contribution of the volunteer program to the organization and projects.

Key Requirements

·      Knowledge of current trends, resources and information related to volunteerism.

·       Knowledge of management of volunteer resources.

·      Proficiency in use of computer for word processing and data base management.

·      Demonstrated ability to set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and tract details, data, information and activities. 

·      Experience responding to client requirements by anticipating and understanding to the needs of internal and external clients to meet or exceed their expectations within the organizational parameters.  

·      Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.

·      Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak, listen and write in a clear, through and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.

·      Demonstrated ability to positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organization.

·      Five (5) years of supervisory or management experience, specifically related to volunteers and consultants.

·      College certificate in Volunteer Management.

Considered an asset

·      Post-secondary education in social sciences, human resources, community development, or adult education is an asset.

·      Certification from the Canadian Administrators of Volunteer Resources or the equivalent provincial association.

·      Membership in CAVR or the equivalent provincial association is an asset.

·      Experience with women’s entrepreneurship and/or micro-finance and/or micro-insurance.

·      Experience with disaster risk reduction programs and in rebuilding following a natural disaster.
