Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Junior Consultant

  • Social equality – civil rights, poverty reduction, gender equality, good governance and conflict resolution; 
  • Economic development – microcredit, private sector development and promoting sustainable living; 
  • Environmental management – climate change, biodiversity, desertification, agricultural development and disaster risk management; 

 

Baastel is looking for a junior Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) consultant with a master's or graduate degree. Related to international development or M&E studies preferred. The candidate should have some relevant M&E experience. This is an introductory 6 month fixed position – with possibilities of contract extension to be negotiated. The successful candidate should be willing to move at his/her charge to the Gatineau/Ottawa region and to begin as soon as possible in September 2013. 

 

Role: Assist teams of consultants in research, design analysis, monitoring and evaluation of projects and programs, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of the mandates and related reporting tools. The projects are funded or implemented by international organizations such as the Inter-American Development Bank, the Caribbean Development Bank, the Canadian International Development Agency, the World Bank and other UN agencies as well as numerous other bilateral organizations. 

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Hold a master's or graduate degree in international development (or related subject), if possible with a focus on monitoring and evaluation; 
  • Possess a sound understanding of monitoring and evaluation processes; 
  • Good knowledge of results-based management; 
  • 2 years of experience in M&E preferred, including development of M&E tools; 
  • Field experience in Caribbean, Central or South America an asset; 
  • Bilingual (English with either French or Spanish) an asset; 
  • Excellent computer skills; 
  • Good oral and excellent written communication skills in English; 
  • Organization and deadlines; 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously; 
  • Attention to detail, teamwork, initiative, energy and motivation. 

 

Starting date: As soon as possible - to be discussed and agreed with the selected candidate. 

 

Location: Gatineau, Quebec
