The Canadian Hunger Foundation (CHF) is a registered Canadian non-governmental organization (NGO) headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada with field offices in Africa, the Caribbean, and Asia. For over 50 years, CHF has worked with partner organizations on more than 800 projects in 52 countries, enabling millions of people to improve their daily lives. CHF is a pragmatic, non-sectarian, results-oriented organization dedicated to enabling poor farmers and rural communities in developing countries to attain sustainable livelihoods and food security.  As a recognized leader in international development, CHF is instrumental in helping to change lives and create solutions to combat the effects of drought, disease and devastating poverty in rural communities throughout the world. President & Chief Executive Officer

Reporting to a dedicated Board of Directors through the Chair, the President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will collaborate with the Board to define and articulate CHF's vision and develop strategies to achieve that vision and raise CHF's visibility during a period of exciting global change.  Strengthening and executing CHF's mission and strategic approach to its sectors of focus (food security, climate change adaptation and maternal/child health) in rural communities will be of critical importance.  You will be actively advocating for the organization, its beliefs and its programmatic efforts, and will champion the development of a comprehensive fundraising strategy.  Organizational excellence, sound business acumen and accountability will be hallmarks of the President & CEO's leadership style.  As CHF's official spokesperson, you will build collaborative partnerships and relationships with a wide group of stakeholders, including donors, political and community leaders, various levels of government and other non-profit organizations.

The ideal candidate will have a proven history of excellence as a visionary senior leader and background working closely with a Board of Directors.  A change agent with exceptional communications and relationship skills, and comfortable as a decisive and experienced leader of complex teams, you are accomplished and trusted as a skilled fundraiser and financial manager. Your successful track record in fundraising demonstrates your ability to leverage influential networks. You will have significant and progressive management expertise in not-for-profit business environments, blended with senior-level business experience in private industry and/or public service, as well as substantial experience in the international development assistance environment in Canada and abroad.  Your passion and energy for designing, building and implementing strategies that lead to operational excellence and continuous improvement is grounded in deploying organizational metrics adapted to various stakeholders.  You will be required to travel internationally, occasionally on short notice and sometimes for extended periods of time.  Proficiency in English is required, and proficiency in French is desirable.  We invite you to visit CHF’s website at www.chf.ca to learn more about CHF and this key leadership opportunity.
