AGENTE DE PROJET / PROJECT OFFICER

Baastel focuses on three main branches of sustainable development, which are:

  • Social equality – civil rights, poverty reduction, gender equality, good governance and conflict resolution;
  • Economic development – microcredit, private sector development and promoting sustainable living;
  • Environmental management – climate change, biodiversity, desertification, agricultural development and disaster risk management;

Baastel is looking for a Project Officer with a Master’s Degree in international development, management, public administration or related field, or with a Bachelor degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience for fulltime employment in its Gatineau’s office. The selected candidate will join the corporate development team which supports all of Baastel’s divisions with proposal development, management of consultancy projects and the development of business opportunities.

Expected start date: Early or Mid-August 2014. Employment start dates to be agreed with the selected
candidates.

Conditions: Permanent position, weeks of 37.5 hours, from Monday to Friday. Salary to be discussed.

Location of work: 85, Victoria Street, Gatineau, Québec.

Responsibilities:

Corporate Development

  • Business development including building partnerships and markets;
  • Preparation of expressions of interest and of technical and financial proposals;
  • Recruitment of consultants and organization of consultancy teams;
  • Budget preparation;
  • Results analysis and review of lessons learned.

Project Management

  • Coordinate planning processes and implementation phases of consultancy projects;
  • Monitor projects to ensure adherence to clients’ timelines and requirements;
  • Act as focal point between clients and consultants for all administrative, contractual and budget issues;
  • Support team leaders for the organization of field work and related logistics;
  • Manage contractual processes with clients and consultants;
  • Carry out budgetary control and coordinate invoicing processes in collaboration with the accounting division;

 Information Management

  • Ensure website updates;
  • Update databases (CVs, projects...);
  • Ensure appropriate project information availability.

Required skills and qualities:

  • Master’s degree in international development, management, public administration or related field, or Bachelor degree with 2 to 3 years of relevant experience;
  • Good understanding of international development issues;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and French, knowledge of Spanish is an asset;
  • Good analysis and synthesis skills;
  • Attention to detail and to quality;
  • Ability with numbers and budgets;
  • Organization and ability to meet deadlines;
  • Prioritization and multi-tasking;
  • Good knowledge of office software (MS Office);
  • Team spirit, leadership, energy and enthusiasm.
