Objectif: 2015 marks the 20th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform of Action on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality – when 189 governments and 30,000 women activists met to shape a blueprint for advancing women’s rights. To underline the universal aspect of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) we will be bringing together both international development and domestic civil society voices working on environmental, poverty and inequality, women’s rights and aboriginal issues to share their insights, ideas and experiences. This panel brings together leaders from the South, and from Canada, who will each address, from their individual perspective and experience, what are today’s challenges for the women’s rights movement, how is it being addressed in the international development context and the post-2015 discussion, what are the successes that we can build on. To be confirmed.
