Biographies:

Laura Dorling van der Oord joined the Office of the Executive Director for Canada, Ireland, and the Caribbean at the World Bank Group in July 2012. She previously worked with the World Bank on multiple geographic teams as a Senior Governance Specialist and Senior Disaster Risk Specialist (2008-2012) and she was a member of the World Bank’s post-earthquake disaster response team in Haiti in 2010.

Ms. Dorling van der Oord also represented Canada as a Senior Counsellor on the Inter-American Development Bank’s Board of Executive Directors (2004-2008) and she was a diplomat with the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade as a Team Leader in the International Financing Division and previously with the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade as an Export Consultant with Ontario Exports Inc. Ms. Dorling also represented Canada as a Senior Counsellor on the Inter-American Development Bank’s Board of Executive Directors (2004-2008) and she was a diplomat with the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade as a Team Leader in the International Financing Division and previously with the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade as an Export Consultant with Ontario Exports Inc.

Carolyn Cudmore   is responsible for the Office of Liaison with International Financial Institutions (IFIs) and has been in her current role since 2011. She assists Canadian clients and partners, including firms, associations, consultants and other government bodies with understanding and navigating these organizations.  Her primary focus is identifying and understanding the business opportunities that these institutions offer.  She works with a network of local contacts as well as partners and colleagues in Canada and overseas.  Her primary engagement is with the key IFIs in Washington, D.C., the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank, although, she does engage with other organizations located in the region and beyond, including the United Nations in New York.

Ms Cudmore has worked in the field of international development for more than 20 years, as a Government of Canada employee and diplomat with the Canadian International Development Agency and the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, and as a management consultant in Canada and the Caribbean.
