*************************************

 Dear Partners,

I am pleased to inform you that the Department has launched a first call http://international.gc.ca/world-monde/funding-financement/smo-pmo-2017.aspx?lang=eng for preliminary proposals as part of the pilot initiative for Canadian small and medium organizations for impact and innovation http://international.gc.ca/world-monde/funding-financement/small_medium_organizations-petit_moyenne_organisation.aspx?lang=eng   announced by the Minister of International Development and La Francophonie in May 2017.

The goal of the pilot initiative is to diversify the Department's partnerships that contribute to international development, improve the capacity and knowledge of Canadian small and medium organizations and their partners abroad to produce results, and strengthen the engagement of Canadian men and women.

In response to comments received during the International Assistance Review in 2016, we took steps to improve our processes. For this reason, as part of the first stage of this call for preliminary proposals, applicants will submit only a preliminary proposal that briefly describes their project while respecting certain parameters. After assessing the preliminary proposals received, we will invite some organizations to submit a full proposal. An invitation to submit a full proposal is not a guarantee of funding. Full proposals received will be assessed on their merit.

Details about this call, as well as the process to submit an application, are available on the call  http://international.gc.ca/world-monde/funding-financement/smo-pmo-2017.aspx?lang=eng page.

Canadian small and medium organizations will have until noon Eastern Standard Time on December 21, 2017 to submit their application.

Applicants may send questions about this call by email to correspondance.pdi@international.gc.ca<mailto:correspondance.pdi@international.gc.ca>

Questions must be submitted before noon (Eastern Standard Time) on December 1, 2017 and answers will be published on the Questions and

Answershttp://international.gc.ca/world-monde/funding-financement/smo-pmo-2017-faq.aspx?lang=eng page  for this call.

Your assistance is crucial in promoting this pilot initiative and call for preliminary proposals. We thank you in advance for sharing this announcement with your networks, including Canadian small and medium organizations and their local partners working in the field.

Best regards,

Caroline Leclerc
