Position Summary 

MEDA is recruiting for a Field Project Manager (FPM) for a large scale, long term agriculture development project in Nicaragua.  Leading a team of field staff, the FPM ensures effective implementation of project strategies, adjusting course as needed based on interim performance, to achieve life-of-project performance targets. This position involves frequent travel to project locations within Nicaragua. The FPM will report to and work closely with MEDA’s North America-based Sr. Project Manager tasked to supervise this Project.

Responsibilities

  • Project implementation, partnership building and management
  • Project financial management and general administration
  • Project compliance
  • Recruitment and management of field staff
  • Mainstreaming of women farmers and climate change as key cross-cutting themes
  • Project performance tracking M&E/MIS systems
  • Quarterly donor report preparation
  • Relationship management with the Government, donor agencies, the business community and other stakeholders
  • Contracting of service providers
  • Implementation of security protocols
  • New business development

Qualifications

  • University degree (ideally Master’s) in international development, business administration or related field
  • Minimum of ten years of senior level experience leading and managing complex, large scale, multimillion-dollar economic development initiatives (or similar private sector experience)
  • Strong understanding of agricultural finance in a development context and proven experience in competitive market environments; inclusive development (particularly gender) and value chain development facilitation methods.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required
  • Prior work experience in Central America and public sector is a significant asset
  • Appreciation and support of MEDA’s faith statement, values and goals
  • Understanding and appreciation of business principles, international development and MEDA’s approach of creating business solutions to poverty
