Since the early 1990s I have been working on international development projects in South East Asia, Africa and the Caribbean. For most of that period I have acted as either Field or Project Director for GAC funded projects. As such I have a deep appreciation for the challenges inherent in delivering successful projects and in designing projects that are innovative and seek to find new approaches to long term development needs. Since 2016 I have been based at the University of Waterloo as Project Director for the Risk Management, Economic Sustainability and Actuarial Science Development in Indonesia (READI) project which seeks to address deficiencies in the pensions and insurance sector. The READI experience, added to my prior experience in the more traditional development sectors of livelihoods, community development and agriculture, provides me with an solid understanding of the changing nature of the international development sector.
Since joining the Board in 2016 I have been actively involved in the Strategic Planning committee as we look towards responding to the needs of the members and expanding the geographic membership base. In May 2018 I was elected as President of CAIDP and will continue to support the work of the Programming, Membership Marketing and Communications, and External Relation Committees as a member of the Executive Committee.
