Applications are invited for the position of Director, Global Education and Partnerships.

Reporting to the Vice-President International, this position will be responsible for developing, managing and sustaining the College’s international training, partnerships, projects and contract consultancies in key markets around the world.  The Director provides the coordination, negotiation, external liaison, operations management and relationship management leadership needed to identify, launch, support and grow an increasing number of academic partnerships and contracts between Niagara College and educational institutions, governments, companies and training organizations in key international markets.  The Director is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy in support of the College’s Strategic Plan objectives to significantly enhance study and work abroad opportunities and participation among students and staff, and to increase and diversify international revenue.

The Director leads, develops and manages the Global Education and Partnerships department, responsible for:
  • Prospecting, assessing and developing global business opportunities for Niagara College including business advisory services, capacity/capability building, campus/training centre operations, contract training, out-of-region/offshore program delivery, and technical assistance;
  • Overseeing the development and submission of proposals for industry, IFIs or government organizations for funding to promote or deliver innovative programs and services which the College has created to meet specific needs in international markets;
  • Project and program management services and/or field projects (project analysis, execution and delivery) in accordance with internally-developed and approved project management best practice for international education;
  • In collaboration with academic areas, development of study/work abroad activities to support the college’s goal to significantly increase learning abroad participation for students, faculty, and staff;
  • Development of training materials and curriculum for the delivery of customized training programs;
  • Development and implementation of policies and procedures related to offshore initiatives and risk management.
Required skills and qualifications include:
  • Masters degree with a specialization in business, public administration, education, adult/higher  education, international studies, or other relevant field of study
  • Minimum 10 years of experience, with at least 7 years of relevant senior management experience
  • Proven track record in developing and managing international partnerships, projects and contracts for a college/university or similar educational organization
  • Experience in planning, developing and managing global engagement and learning abroad programs and initiatives
  • Experience and expertise in cross-cultural teaching, curriculum development and academic administration
  • Experience managing/leading cross cultural teams with proven results
  • Experience living and working abroad
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Flexibility, resilience, optimism and ability to effectively deal with high levels of ambiguity
  • A valid passport, along with the ability and willingness to travel
