Ravi’s technical expertise over the last three decades is wide-ranging and includes contaminated land management, environmental site assessment and remediation of soils, sediments and groundwater from oil spills, solid and hazardous waste management and disposal, designated substance surveys and assessments, including asbestos, industrial air emission assessments, occupational exposure assessments, indoor air quality for personal exposures of chemicals and biological contaminants, mould assessment and remediation, quality assurance, water and wastewater treatment operations, regulatory compliance, development of regulatory policies and procedures, public consultations, and environmental monitoring programs. Ravi uses these experiences in his environmental management work related to post disaster recovery needs assessments and environmental recovery strategies incorporating ecosystem based disaster risk reduction approaches in international disasters and conflicts zones. Ravi has extensive experience in environmental and management knowledge transfer, training and capacity building, programme planning, development, monitoring and evaluation, audits and inspections around the world in different cultural contexts. His experience in multiple disciplines, in both English and French languages, has contributed to reduced environmental and safety risks and liabilities in various countries.

Ravi’s management experience includes leading technical teams, strategic programme development and execution, human and financial resource management (upto 40 engineering and science professionals; 500 contractors, 15M $ annual budget), program monitoring and evaluation, project management, preparation, presentation and oversight of compliance and management reports, quality assurance, and leading teams in stakeholder engagements and public hearings, applying organizational safety culture through strategic, risk-based decision making, using precautionary principles and a graded approach.

Ravi currently works as a senior project advisor to the Disasters and Conflicts Branch of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). He has carried out field missions and/or partaken in projects involving many different environments and conditions, including in Ukraine, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Haiti, Cote d'Ivoire, Afghanistan, India, Iraq, Sudan, and DR Congo.

During his career, Ravi has worked closely with clients in the energy sector, environmental non-profit sector, industrial sector, insurance and real estate sectors, and various national, regional and local governments. As a regulator, he was the regulatory program director for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities in Canada, and represented the country at the IAEA and OECD NEA working groups.
