Lilia Blades

About

Project manager with 15+ years of experience in international development and humanitarian coordination. Regional planner, architect and team player who builds strong partnerships and supports urban communities develop resilience to climate change.

Until March 2026 she was the shelter coordinator for Latin America and the Caribbean as part of the International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent Societies. Prior, she was an advisor for the city council of La Paz, Bolivia, her home city.  She’s been a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity on several occasions and worked with the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre.  She worked for 10 years with the United Nations, as part of the Assistance mission in Afghanistan, the UNDP, the Climate Change Secretariat and later with UN-Habitat headquarters in Kenya, where she managed projects to enhance the capacities of urban practitioners in urban mobility,  planning, housing and climate change adaptation.  She was also in charge of UNI,  the UN-Habitat Partner Universities Initiative.
