Ted Jackson

About: 

Edward Jackson is President of E.T. Jackson and Associates, an international management consulting firm that has, since its inception in 1982, advised on $10 billion worth of development interventions in more than 50 countries.  The firm provides high-quality, customized professional services in strategic planning, organizational learning and performance assessment to development agencies and foundations, specializing in social impact investment, youth employment, small business and microfinance, governance, gender equality, and basic and higher education. 

Dr. Jackson has led a wide range of major evaluations and studies commissioned by Global Affairs Canada (formerly CIDA), the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Development Research Centre, MasterCard Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and World Bank. Notable reports generated by these assignments include:

A former Associate Dean  and tenured faculty member in  public administration, international affairs and African studies at Carleton University, and past lecturer at Trent, Victoria, Warsaw and Witwatersrand universities, he co-founded the Carleton Centre for Community Innovation and the Carleton University-World Bank International Program for Development Evaluation Training.  At Carleton, he also directed grant-making, outreach and action research programs funded by the Aga Khan Foundation of Canada, Bell Canada, CBIC, McConnell Foundation, Ontario Trillium Foundation, Royal Bank of Canada, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.

Dr. Jackson has published widely on impact investing and its evaluation, governance and its evaluation, theory of change, and participatory evaluation and research, in both peer-reviewed and professional publications.  He also serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Sustainable Finance and Investment and the Engaged Scholar Journal.  He currently holds adjunct appointments at Carleton and Ottawa universities as well as a research appointment with Ghana’s Institute for Policy Alternatives.  

Based in Ottawa, Canada, Ted Jackson is the recipient of honours and awards for his work in program evaluation, graduate teaching, community development, development management, and community-university partnerships.
